The Waiting Season

“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.” – Ecclesiastes 3:11

I won’t sit here and lie and say that the waiting is easy because it’s not. A lot of overly spiritual people will say “The waiting is so lovely”, and the truth it’s not like that all the time. The waiting can be frustrating, draining, tiring, and sad, and it doesn’t always feel lovely. As I sit here writing this I am waiting for a lot of things and believing that God has more for me.

It is not easy when you see everyone around you receiving the things you are patiently and prayerfully waiting for, it often feels like God is blessing everyone else, and you are stuck where you are. You see everyone else entering relationships, when you have remained pure and sought out healthy relationships, you see friends getting pay raises and you are still living paycheck to paycheck, or when you are hoping for a new opportunity and no doors seem to be opening.

Where is God in all of this? When will it be your time to receive it? What does God’s timing really look like?

When we are questioning where God is during our waiting, it’s important that we don’t get caught up in waiting that we miss the now. God is doing things now in your (our) life.

While you’re waiting for family restoration, how about instead of complaining about your family, intercede on their behalf? While you’re waiting for the financial breakthrough, steward the money you do have well. While you are waiting for the relationship prepare your heart, your mind, body, and soul and deepen your relationship with God. My point is don’t waste the waiting. God will bless the waiting.

You never want to waste your waiting by lusting after the things you currently don’t have or making those things idol. God wants you now during this season, He wants to fill you, He wants to love you and He wants to build a deeper more intimate relationship with you.

During my season of waiting even though it has been hard at times, what I found is a more intimate relationship with God. My relationship wouldn’t have been built if I had been stuck on the things I am waiting for. I embraced the now, and what I have got out of that has been far better than I could have ever imagined.

Where are you in your season of waiting? What are you doing now while you wait? Are you wasting the waiting?

God has a great plan for your life, but it is all in His timing, and His timing and plans are more beautiful than ours. Don’t waste your waiting use the time to grow in a deeper relationship with God, and I promise the outcome is far greater than you would ever expect.

With Love,
